Sunday

Happy Valentines Day!

For our Primary activity this quarter we decided to have a Valentine Party for the children. Originally we planned on having it in the evening so that the parents could drop off their kids and go have a couple of hours together for Valentines Day. The activity turned into a joint ward activity with the adults having a dinner/dance. We still had separate activities. Anyway, we decorated the room with pink table clothes, heart balloons, valentines for each of the kids, candy hearts and m&m's down the tables. I wish that I would have taken my camera, because it turned out cute. We fed the kids personal size pizza's with heart jello jigglers and pink lemonade. That was followed with valentine games, making valentines for family, and decorating the Bishop's door with valentines. The children did go in and dance with their parents for a few songs, then we had cupcakes and watched a valentine movie. I think that it was a successful activity. Of course there are a few things that we would do differently if we did it again, but I think that the children had fun. We have an average attendance of around 20 to 25 kids in our Primary on Sundays. For this activity we planned for 30 kids at the most............well, we ended up having 36 children show up. We had to keep setting more places. Today at church we had 16 kids total. I wonder where they all went. My counselor said that maybe we should advertise a party for Primary each Sunday! The only problem with that is that you have to have food at a party and I just can't bring myself to break that NO FOOD IN PRIMARY rule!

What a fun activity! There's definitely something to the idea of food getting people to come to certain functions...that's why I'm still bringing treats to choir practice each week...

(If the food in Primary is to help teach the lesson, it's okay, right?...!!)
