Trip to New York

September 16 - 21 I went to New York with my sister Kim. Kim was going for a work installation and I tagged along. We stayed in Queens and the office that they are opening is also in Queens. We got really good at riding the subway and waiting for the shuttle from our hotel to pick us up. In the mornings we would go to the office and unpack boxes, assemble furniture and displays, and then install them. My favorite was fluffing the artificial trees. This picture is one small area of the store front that we worked on.

After a day of work we would ride the subway into Manhattan and check things out. We went shopping and ate at interesting restaurants. One night we walked through Little Italy and was part of their yearly festival. We ate at an Italian restaurant that evening. On Thursday morning I decided to skip work. (I figured the worst thing that would happen if I didn't show up was that they would fire me................which they had never hired me, so I wasn't worried) I went to the Manhattan temple and did a morning session. It was nice to find a clean bathroom and enjoy a beautiful peaceful building within a crazy busy world outside. I went to Central Park to eat my lunch. It is just a block away from the temple. Afterwards I stopped in and helped Kim at work for awhile and then that evening we went back to Manhattan for the Broadway show Wicked. We were going to eat dinner before attending the show, but we waited for an hour and a half and our food hadn't arrived. We ended up leaving the restaurant without eating because we had to get to the show. The manager had given us a coupon for two free meals that we enjoyed after the show. Wicked was fun and entertaining. The costumes were wonderful. The music and acting was great. It was three hours long and it flew by. When Kim booked the tickets for Wicked she wasn't able to get two seats together. She got some that had one seat booked in between. We thought that we would just be able to talk the person into trading one of us. Once we got there we found a huge pillar in between the seats. So much for our plan because it wasn't moving.

Kim and I decided that we had seen what we wanted to see in New York City and would be fine if we never went back....................on to other sites!
